What gives Obertilliach its uniqueness? Tradition and serenity characterize the quality of Obertilliach, nestled in the Tyrolean Lesachtal. Its centre is heritage listed and sits picturesquely within the sunny plateau of the valley.

This uniqueness is presumably equally supported by the natural unbiased friendliness of its residents and is constantly embraced and mentioned by guests and visitors.

Ancient customs and traditions

are treasured in Obertilliach. Throughout summer many Christian festivities and celebratory processions are held such as the yearly Obertilliacher Kirchtagsfest – around the 4th July, celebrating the local church patronage.

If you would like to learn more about local farmer’s traditions, you can visit the museum of local history directly next to Holiday Home Veider. Upon request we can arrange a guided tour.

The only remaining night watchman in Austria

The night watchman has been around since the 14th century.

Each night he walked around the village at 8pm, 10pm and at midnight. Even today you can meet the current night watchman in person.

The night watchman profession has had organizational changes several times and is essentially less important, yet Obertilliach has decided to keep this tradition which means that you can still hear him singing the same "night watchman's song".
